Angie + Dave | Wedding at the National Arboretum in Canberra

Angie and Dave married at the National Arboretum on a sunny April afternoon.

Their wedding was a long time coming, and we had been looking forward to it after having to reschedule their November date. We started the rainy morning with a heartfelt tea ceremony, with friends and relatives filling the couple’s home to share in the first celebration of the day. The bridal party and close family wore traditional ao dais for the ceremony and exchanging of gifts, followed by family portraits (featuring Bean the cat) and a smorgasbord of delicious Vietnamese food.

The Western ceremony was held at the Margaret Whitlam Pavilion, a beautiful spot with vaulted ceilings and a spectacular view out of floor-to-ceiling windows over the hilly landscape. As is often the case in Canberra, a cold wind swept over the valley undeterred by the sunshine, giving us about ten minutes for portraits at the top of the mountain before it was far too cold to continue... It turns out ten minutes was all we needed! What a perfect backdrop to their romantic vibes and complementing colour scheme, inspired by blushing autumn tones and blooming sunflowers (Angie’s favourite flower).

We felt truly honoured to be invited to photograph this wedding, especially returning to a city where Marty grew up and Dani spent years studying in. Despite both living in Canberra, We had never met until Angie introduced us in Melbourne… so this wedding was extra special for us because Folkstone would not exist if it weren’t for Angie! Congratulations to a super sweet couple, and thank you for trusting us to capture your love story.
