a letter from your photographer

Hey, I’m Dani (she/any pronouns) ♥

If you’re looking for a photographer who believes that the quiet honest moments matter just as much as the main event, you’re in the right place. I’m so glad you’re here.

I believe in love - ALL love - with my whole heart, and I feel a sense of duty in my work to capture it honestly.

Honest photography isn’t about trends or traditions that tell us what a wedding, or a family, should look like: a forced narrative oblivious to the happy wrinkles around the eyes, or a baby’s first wobbly steps.

Honest photography sees your loving handholds, it moves with your first dance, and it tastes the icing on your wedding cake.

Above all, I believe in the magic of photography documenting the authentic emotions for you to relive years later.

Is it my mission to help you cherish the moments that feel like home.

“Our house is now decorated with photo prints and we also ordered a beautiful wedding album which sits on our coffee table.

Above all, they are really lovely people! It is obvious that they are passionate about the work that they do and capturing special moments.”

the folkstone team

Martin (he/him) is the original co-founder of Folkstone alongside Dani

Marty has been there since the very beginning and has been Dani’s pillar of support since day one.

You’ll find him dining at fancy restaurants with his foodie girlfriend, Lisa, and hugging his two ragdoll cats, Ellie and Maisy.

Marty’s photography know-how is second to none!
You can find his commercial work at Maras Creative.

Folkstone Weddings began in 2017 as a humble photography duo

These days, I’ve taken the reins of the business while Marty joins me on wedding days and behind-the-scenes editing your galleries with his mastered skills.

I’ve also hand-picked a small team of trusted assistants over the years who help with photography and camcorder duties, so you know you’re in good hands.

folkstone’s story

When we first launched Folkstone, I quickly realised our job was more than just photography.

When you are fully present in the moment, you let the day unfold as it is. You focus on the love around you, leaving space for connection. That is where I’ll be, camera-in-hand. Those are the photos worth holding on to. The ones you come back to years later when your hair has greyed and the children are grown up.

I’ve had the pleasure of seeing freshly in-love couples turn into families through the lens of my camera – and I wouldn’t want it any other way - but Folkstone has evolved over the years into something bigger than photography.

From helpful resources and newsletters for couples, to in-person wedding planning workshops, and even a physical deck of conversation cards to encourage connection and help lovers talk through important topics before the wedding.

I wanted Folkstone to be more than photos. Weddings have the highest highs but I know it is also easy to get caught up in stressful details so I’ll try my best to remind you of the only thing that matters right now:

You are here, together. Everything else is a bonus.
